High Jumping
Ciao,
I'm back!!!!! Italy was great! The competition was incredible. The
world leading mark was made in the heptathlon.
My first day wasn't as good as I hoped, we had a bit of rain to
contend with during most of day 1. I've been in this situation before
and you can never let a bad day get you down. After the first day
I was in 23rd place, ugh! But I came back on day 2 with nothing
to loose, in the long jump I hit a season best of 6.19m which moved
me up to 17th. I had a solid javelin which moved me up another two
spots. Going in to the 800m my goal was to run a 2:15, I made a
valiant effort, but only ran 2:19. Although this moved me up to
10th place I was disappointed. I still came away with a SB in the
Heptathlon, which is nothing to smirk at.
The next few weeks will be filled with tons of training. I'm looking
forward to my next competition, I can only get better from here.
Luckily it sounds like I'm going to get a bit of help, thanks to
Ric and some of his amazing athletes!! If you guys only knew how
awesome I think you are!!
Arrivederci,
Heather

Hi all,
It was a big weekend for me. Way up in the altitude of Laramie I
scored for myself a trio of season bests. I bettered my previous
SB in the 200 by 5 tenths of a second, 24.46. In the 100H I ran
13.93 and jumped 6.12m in the long jump. For those of you who don't
know metric yet that's 20'2. Sorry there are no photos, my husband
tried but I think I was too fast for the camera, at least I like
to think so.
Today I leave for Italy. I'm looking forward to that long flight
I can catch up on a little sleep! The competition should prove to
be a good one, some of the best heptathletes in the world will be
there. Since I'm the only American I better step it up!
Well, I'm off, you'll hear from me from the road.

Just returned from 5 weeks of training in California. Including
a week stint in Austin for an Asics photo shoot. While there I was
able to meet Lolo Jones the national champion in the 60m hurdles.
It was good to swap some training ideas with her.
The weather in California was awesome, I finally feel like my training
is coming around. Proof of that came this Saturday when I broke
25 seconds in the 200m, the first time since the 2004 Olympic Trials.
Also I was able to better my PR in the Javelin by over 5 feet.
It's nice to be back in Colorado, although I leave again in 7 days
for my first major competition. The meet is in Desenzano Del Garda
Italy. Three years ago I did very well in this competition and would
like to do so again.
I look forward to hearing about everyone's accomplishments this
season.
Run fast and turn left,
Heather
